Participation in OASIS ARTS activities is a privilege, and OASIS ARTS believes that each person involved is entitled to a positive experience. OASIS ARTS wants all students to do their best. As part of this philosophy, all students are required to follow the behavioral standards listed below.
- Students are expected to show respect for the Artistic Team, Teachers, Directors, Staff, parents, other students, and facility representatives.
- Honoring language and actions should be used at all times. Name-calling, profanity, and/or inappropriate actions will not be tolerated. Only good behavior is allowed.
- OASIS ARTS expects students to be respectful of property
- OASIS ARTS expects purity of self with one’s own body; therefore, the use of illegal drugs, alcohol, or tobacco products is strictly prohibited while at a OASIS ARTS activity.
Rehearsal and Performance Guidelines
- Avoid unnecessary noise and distractions during rehearsals and performances.
- Students are expected to stay in approved areas while at any OASIS ARTS facilities. OASIS ARTS students should not leave the facilities at any time during rehearsals or performances, unless permission to do so has been given to the OASIS ARTS staff person in charge by the student’s parent or guardian. (This includes breaks between class and rehearsal and lunchtime on school days.) A sack meal should be brought by the cast/crew members or delivered to them at the facility by an adult. (Students are not allowed to participate in “fast food runs” without parental permission.)
- During shows, students are expected to complete clean up duties as assigned.
- Behave in a professional manner at all times during performances and rehearsals.
- All cast and crew members must attend all rehearsals and performances unless you are ill or have received the Directors permission.
- Be on time for class, rehearsals, performances and other scheduled activities. (Parents: please pick up your children on time, as well.)
- When appropriate, all students should be prepared with costumes, makeup, props and scripts.
Discipline Procedures (Consequences)
- For the first incident, Artistic Team Member, Teacher, Director, Staff, and/or individual in charge of a OASIS ARTS activity will talk with the student about his/her misbehavior.
- If misbehavior continues, the Director will call the parent and explain the misbehavior of the student, and the consequences of continued misbehavior.
- If misbehavior continues, the Director will meet with the parent and student to discuss possible dismissal from OASIS ARTS activities, i.e., class, show, etc.
- Continued misbehavior will result in dismissal from OASIS ARTS activities for the particular session.
- Parents and students should be aware that serious misbehavior will be documented and may effect participation in future OASIS ARTS activities. In certain cases, misbehavior that OASIS ARTS considers extreme and/or which threatens the well being of others will result in immediate suspension and/or permanent expulsion from all OASIS ARTS activities.
When registering for OASIS ARTS classes, camps or other events you must sign and return a form stating that you have read and agree to follow the guidelines stated above, and have read and understand the consequences of failing to follow them. Doing so will also signify that you are aware that OASIS ARTS strives to keep students and others safe and free from harm when reasonably possible, but that OASIS ARTS cannot guarantee any person's safety, or that students will comply with these guidelines at all times.
